Slow Down and you will see,
Bigotry and intolerance still thriving.
Anger and disappointment of young and old,
Hope extinguished and lost souls abundant.
Slow down and you will see,
The impoverished turned away,
Solders who endure their pain alone,
A culture that excises differences,
And bureaucracy that takes and seldom gives.
Slow down and you will see,
Greed and self interest separating classes.
Imports that fail before use,
A do-it-yourself world of complexity and trappings.
That leaves one cold and hollow.
Slow down and you will see,
The frustration on peoples faces,
The absence of laughter and love,
The struggle of growing old,
And the hypocrisy in living free.
Stand and make a change,
Shout at the top of your lungs,
Like life depended on it,
Because it does.
Slow down and make a difference.

While driving into work this morning, carved clearly with a finger on the back of a dirty semi were the words WE CAN DO BETTER.
ReplyDeleteI thought it perfectly fitting, and realized that "WE" always starts with "I".
Thanks for your insights and compassion!
